Swimming in Pokhara

1 June, 2009
Its summer and nature is playing its role but it seems that the sun
has been little bit more kind to us. It's really hot in Pokhara and
its effect can be seen in the dress up and lifestyle of people.
Normally, the temperature goes above 32 degree Celsius each day. The
days aren't rainy like in previous years and the rivers and waterfalls
are almost drained out. It seems global warming have started to show
its effect on us. The long hours of load shedding in electricity has
cut the option of electronic coolers and fans. This is the reason why
we see huge crowd in the swimming pool.

Swimming pool has become a best place to hangout. There are altogether
five swimming pools in Pokhara valley, among which two are local
swimming pools. Hotels like Phulbari resort, Fewa Prince, Pokhara
Grind, Hotel Shangri-La has also opened their swimming pool for
general public. Today, the entrepreneurs bring out different schemes
to bring more crowds to their swimming pool.
I gossiped with some people to find out why they visit swimming pool.

"We come for swimming mostly in Saturday as we love it; we always come
in a team and its fun especially in this type of hot season. It like
doing workout with fun" said Basant and Sushma, Aarti, a friend of
Basant and sushma added, "As Saturday is a local holiday, we all have
a day off. We get time to enjoy and have fun with our friends. We
can't go anywhere in this heat, so we make the swimming pool as our
get together spot"

Roshan Gurung a frequent visitor to Penguin Swimming pool had a
different reason to come to the swimming pool. He said "Well, I come
to watch more than to swim. It's really nice to see girls in swimming
suit. They look sexy and hot. A hundred rupee for such show is damn
cheap, right!!!"

The reason may be many but the number of people visiting the swimming
has increased drastically in comparison to previous years. Here is a
short detail of the swimming pools available for the public.
